This is a first of a series where we look at what the latest in the green building movement looks like, where a new standard is created in an effort to change the way we look at buildings. The new standard is in Glasgow, Scotland, and it is one of the most important new technologies to come out of the UK and the country, as is the innovative, multi-family housing that was recently approved by the Scottish government for the development of affordable housing. The developer, C.H.B., has been very careful with its drawings;

It is not just about housing; this is about community building; these are community buildings. Most of the housing is on the chassis of communities, often very low-income households that have poor or no access to jobs or services. It’s a shame that they are going to go after the community.

There is a lot to learn in building housing, including the use of alternative housing like cohousing. And that's not just about building:

Of course there will always be some trade-offs; there’s a lot to be had between one community versus the other. But we are seeing new ways of sharing the community. What works best, as well, and is necessary, is community building.

I look forward to seeing affordable housing being built where, as affordable housing becomes legal (as it often is, are) where apartments are built. The housing that is right next to the community is not good enough. The developer wants to keep people in their homes, close to their primary job center. They say it is a good first step towards building a community.

The first three buildings to open at C.H.B. are in Glasgow and Scotland.

This building is so affordable, it would make my dream come true.

It has a lot to teach us from what has been a difficult and tumultuous pandemic, when everything changed from cars to computers to computers and digital computing (and the way our computers are powered by batteries) all changed and replaced. Many families no longer want to stay in their homes, and we are all going to need more social, community, and recreational space. The last thing you can do in a pandemic world is give away more room for social distancing and exercise.

It will be built by a private developer, a private developer or a governmental agency.

It is hard to see why developers were so interested in taking this picture. It's because of how these buildings are different than apartments or car rentals. It has been so difficult to find a developer to build a housing project like these in North America. More homes are on this chassis now, but there may be a big gap there.
